Denise Hill

“The Gospel Lady”

 

Denise Hill, is a veteran of the Christian entertainment and gospel radio industries.  Born and raised in a suburb of Washington, DC, Denise attended Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science degree in Communications Media. She continued her studies at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she received her Master of Arts degree in Electronic Broadcast Communications. 

            Upon her return to Washington, Denise began her professional career at gospel radio station WYCB 1340-AM. Throughout her employment she served as Midday Host, Morning Show Producer and co-host, as well as Programming Assistant and Promotions Director. In August of 1999 she began as the Personality of "Sunday Morning Worship and Praise" on WKYS 93.9-FM where she was rated among the top Washington, DC Sunday morning gospel programs. It is at this urban format station she was deemed "The Gospel Lady." That name has since traveled nationwide. In October of 2001 “The Gospel Lady” began her morning show career as one of the first hosts and only female personality on The Spirit, channel 33 on the XM Satellite Radio network and channel 827 on DirectTV. The fall of 2006 brought further professional advancement with a move to the world’s #1 market, New York, where she currently sits as Program Director and Midday Host of WLIB 1190-AM. Throughout her professional years she has interviewed hundreds of recording artists, actors, politicians, world-renowned ministers, celebrities and everyday people. Her in-depth and entertaining interviewing techniques have been praised by her interviewees, particularly recording artists who, enjoying her question variety, voted her the Most Liked Personality in the 2002 Gospel Round-Up.

In addition to working as a radio professional, Denise ministers to hurting women and relationships in her one-woman stage play “A Woman and Her Well.” Performing as 6 different characters she addresses the issues of abuse, abandonment, homosexuality, and spiritual hypocrisy, connecting these realities to the biblical story of the Samaritan woman at the well. Both comedic and emotional, through this play she is spiritually effective and life changing. She also is the founder of The Hannah Women’s Network, a community organization offering networking, resources, and support to women ready to discover and walk in their purpose. Denise is also a teacher. She returned to her undergraduate alma mater, Bowie State University, to teach various broadcast communication courses as an Adjunct Professor. She has also served as an instructor at Prince George’s Community College and Connecticut School of Broadcasting.  Furthermore, she is a professional speaker, motivator, and communications trainer and counselor. 

            Denise understands the responsibility of quality programming with ministry. She is one of the best at finding the proper balance while maintaining the integrity of the message and her Christian walk. Her youthful energy and mass appeal are vital ingredients in moving gospel music as well as inspirational media and entertainment to the next level.
